What are your favorite things to collect now? What are your favorite colors to decorate with?
I've been collecting owl figurines (larger ones, not tchotchkes) that I end up spraypainting. So anything owl related I love! I've recently become obsessed with lemons (as you can see!), so lemon stuff is right up on my list. It's hard for me to have collections, really, because I haven't had the money to start them, but soon! I'd love a collection of something vintage, like vintage paint by number paintings, or pyrex dishes...!
As far as decorating, I don't know what my favorite colors would be. I haven't ever set up a room with a color scheme, we just put what we have wherever we have space. My favorite colors though are pale aqua, bright yellow, orange, and pea green.
When are you and Chris going to come to St. Louis to visit Eli and Marie?
Hmm, I wonder who asked this one!!! We wanted to come down before we move but it just got too expensive for us, so we'll have to wait until after we move. You guys have to come see our new little house by the lake!
for how long have you been knitting? how did you learn it?
I started knitting when I was 17. I had just graduated high school and all my friends had gone away to school, but I was staying home to go to a local community school. I actually found a girl on Livejournal who knitted and thought it might be something I'd like to try. I went to Walmart and bought a little kit that came with needles and instructions, bought some yarn, and tried it out. It was really frustrating at first, it wasn't easy for me to learn. I put it away for a while, but eventually started it up again, with more persistence. I eventually got the hang of it, and I've been in love ever since!
The sad things is that ever since I started my Etsy shop I haven't really been knitting all that much. I've been making a lot of crocheted things to sell, but knitting takes a bit more time. All my personal knitting has fallen by the wayside, but I hope to pick it up again soon!
what projects do you dream of starting?
I really can't wait to start decorating my new house! I've been living in student apartments for the last two years, and before that I was in the dorms... I want to paint rooms and go to flea markets for cute kitschy things!
I've also been working with felt a lot lately. I've done quite a few new designs for my etsy shop that I'm really into!
which are your favourite blogs?
I'm just now getting into reading a bunch of different blogs at the same time. I used to only stick to a few, like Sometimes Sweet, A Beautiful Mess, and Little Bird Crafts... The new ones I really enjoy reading are Kaelah Bee, Smile and Wave, and CreateLoves. Really, though, I just haven't found all that many blogs. I'd love to read everyone's blog if I could! Anyone who comments on my blog is sure to get a new fan in me!
where do you go for inspiration? & who is your muse?
I've been getting into a lot of new blogs lately... Kaelah Bee, Holly Sarah (of Createloves), and How About Orange are my new fave inspiration blogs. My old standbys are Elsie (of A Beautiful Mess), Silje (of Little Bird Crafts) and Danielle (of Sometimes Sweet). These ladies are all beautiful and continue to inspire me to live a wonderful life...!
I'm also constantly inspired by my boyfriend, I love picking his brain! The way his mind works is very different from mine, and I love having him tell me about how he sees the world!
What's your favorite type of flower?
Right now, dahlias. I really like the smell of hyacinths, and the look of hydrangeas, but I think dahlias are my fave.
What are you most excited about right now?
Moving! We're moving to the area we grew up in, and we'll be so close to our families!
If you could go back in time 10 years and tell your younger self something, what would it be?
Probably something about boys or clothes. I would tell myself to be more open and honest and less dramatic, and to quit wearing such heinous outfits!
xoxo, susannahbean
Here is a question!
ReplyDeleteWhat other artsy fartsy things do you do other than knit and crochet?
AND
What easy arts and crafts project would you recommend to someone who is in a creative slump?!
I mainly knit and crochet, but I've been getting into making felt hair accessories lately. I try to paint but it doesn't always work out well!
ReplyDeleteI think if you're in a creative slump one of the best things you can do is just spruce something up. I like to repaint picture frames to add some color to my world, or I spray paint figurines I already have (like the owls). Maybe I'll come up with a little tutorial about something handmade...! xo
