For the last few months I've been thinking about my place here on the internet and what this blog means for me. There are a lot of things I love about it, but I feel like it's become something that isn't the best representation of me. I feel too much pressure to "perform" and I found myself doing things that I wouldn't normally do just to blog about it. It's obvious that I'm not a very frequent blogger, which has added to the pressure I feel in this space. So I've decided to make some changes. I don't want to be motivated by numbers anymore. I don't want to be nervous about what I'm sharing. The main thing I'm doing right now is getting rid of paid sponsorships. There will be some other differences that I implement over time, and I am hopeful that I can make this a more enjoyable space for everyone involved. Thank you ♥
Aww girl. I <3 you!
ReplyDeleteThe best blogs are definitely the ones where the writer blogs about, and does, whatever the hell they want

I hope you'll be blogging more.. I really miss your posts.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're making a decision for you.
You are the most important one so you make the best choices for YOU! LOVE <3 XXOX
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I get that for some people their blog is a job but what's with this whole "I blog therefore I should sell ads and monetize everything" thing? What ever happened to bloggers that just blog? It's just become so commercialized. And it bums me out. I've stopped reading blogs that I've followed for years because they're just littered with affiliate stuff and its so clear that everything they blog has some sort of angle. So hold your ground sister. : ) don't cross over to the dark side haha stay here where things are relaxing and fun. ; )

ReplyDeleteI like your blog regardless of how many times you post or what you post about. As long as you're true to yourself...that's all that matters :) Do what makes you insanely happy. Blogging should come second to that. When I had my first blog, I always felt I forced all my shoots and I felt pressured all the time. Now I just post whenever I have time. It's sooo much better!
ReplyDeleteI love your hair in makeup in this picture btw. I know it's kind of a serious post. But you happen to look quite lovely in the above photograph.

^ Agreed.
Delete^ I agree!
DeleteI know this feeling SO well, and I've been feeling it lately too. Actually I think it's been going around. Good luck getting things to where you want them and doing what makes you happy!
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for posting this. I don't really have a "real" blog (I just have a fashion-based tumblr), but so many people post links for things like "gain 1,000 followers by clicking here!" I'd rather people follow me because they like the stuff I post. Quality, not quantity :)

Good for you, miss! I'm really happy that you are such a down to earth gal. I hope everything is going well and you don't become a stranger or anything! <3
ReplyDeleteReal talk, love it.
ReplyDeleteReal talk, love it!
ReplyDeleteI have literally been feeling the exact same way! Excited to see what you do with the space. I am starting to re-think manzanita and what I want it to look like and be. Definitely want to eliminate expectation and requirements.
ReplyDeleteI'll still follow your blog even if you don't update as much. I rather read one sincere post a week than seven "What's in my bag" type of post any day. :)
ReplyDeleteWell done for being brave enough to get rid of paid sponsorship. As an avid blog reader, it's a massive turn off. It's nice to see and read about people.
ReplyDeleteDo your thing girl. And I totally understand. While it pressures me into doing things I've wanted to do ( a good thing) it also pressures me into doing things that aren't exactly me. I love the fashion world of the blog and posting outfit posts. But really I wear the same couple pairs of jeans I almost never wash and a t-shirt. Oh and over sized (unflattering) grandma sweaters. For now it's still fun to learn but I hope people don't think I'm a fake because of it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great you are recognizing that you need to maybe pull yourself in a bit and get back to your roots. It's great to self reflect sometimes and make sure we are doing what we really want to do and how!
ReplyDeleteI play the same thoughts in my mind but then I go back to the reason I'm here... because I like to share my thoughts and passion for being creative. So just do your thing, the rest will come naturally!
ReplyDeleteThat can be hard to rethink the image/brand/self you put out there. As a new reader, I find this a very honest post. Will be excited to see what you put up in newer posts.
ReplyDeleteI've just found your blog and really identified with this post!
ReplyDeleteI took a year away from blogging and found that coming back into it this March it was tough to keep up with other bloggers - especially those who post several times in a DAY and talk constantly about paid sponsors (I wouldn't even know where to begin setting that up). Intense! I can't compete with that, nor do I want to. It's MY blog after all!
This is your blog and your voice - do what you please with it and dance to the beat of your own drum ;)
Looking forward to your future posts x
