Featured Sponsor: Scarlett Key

Hi guys! I'm excited to introduce you to Andrea of Scarlett Key, and to share an awesome handmade giveaway with you! Andrea's been a sweet supporter of my little blog for quite a while, so I couldn't be happier to have her as a sponsor!

I am Andrea from Middle-of-Nowhere, Ohio and I'm so very excited to be here on the blog this month!  I'm a 27 year old Psychology student (can't wait to finish so I can work with special needs children!).   I have fur babies that take up a lot of my heart - Cody, a 12 year old Jack Russell, and Bryant, an almost five (?) year old Australian Shepherd mix, are my doggies and Elroy is my insane kitty. Family and friends are everything in my world.  Thankfully, I have some amazing family members and the best friends a girl could ask for! My favorite job that I've actually had was working at the local library.  Um, hello, they paid me to read all day; it was Heaven.  I have six tattoos, three of which are quotes... I have "la vie est belle, et elle commence demain" (life is beautiful, and it will begin tomorrow~French), "ad astra per aspera" (to the stars through trials~Latin), and "love begets love".  All three quotes came from special places and hold even more special places in my heart.

Scarlett Key came about when I lost my job and filled my days with doing things like finding Susannah's blog and keeping my hands busy doing things I learned many years ago - knitting, crochet, and sewing.  I spent an incredible summer with my Grandmother when I was about 13 and she taught me so many things that I've turned to when I need to de-stress, calm down, or occupy my mind with something other than Friends reruns on tv.  I ended up being unemployed for just over a year and took that time to focus on doing something that I truly loved, creating fun accessories!  What started out as just hair bows has turned into bow, head bands, bookmarks, and this month I created my first set of purses and sun glass cases to add to the mix!  I can't wait to add even more purse styles to the shop in the coming weeks.  With the new additions, I've also ventured out in the world of vending.  I'm not gonna lie and say that I had my first festival this past weekend and I might have cried a little when I drove over to the venue because it was literally one of my dreams coming true!
Andrea is offering up prize pack worth over $50 from her shop! You'll win the bag shown above (navy and floral, lined in white) and a matching sunglasses case, and your choice of two hair accessories from her shop! You must be a follower of susannahbean.com, and please leave a separate comment for each of the following entries:
-Visit Scarlett Key and leave a comment with your fave item!
-Follow Andrea's blog (through GFC or bloglovin', let her know which!)
-Tweet about the giveaway with the following message: "Enter to win a $50 handmade prize pack from @prajaline on susannahbean.com!  http://bit.ly/SPP2IQ

That's four chances for you to win! This giveaway is open to US and Canada residents only. This giveaway will end on Friday, July 27th. Thanks so much to Andrea, and good luck to you!

Sponsor Susannahbean in June!

We planted our little window boxes the other day with three colors of petunias, celosia, and creeping jenny. I love how they turned out!!

June is going to be an exciting month! I've got lots of fun things planned, and most exciting of all it's my birthday month! I have a couple medium and small ads left for June, so email me at susannahbean AT gmail DOT com if you're interested!

Chris and I are enjoying some coffee and toast on the couch and watching Shin Chan before we head off to work. No big parties for us on this holiday, but that's alright :) How are you celebrating Memorial Day?

New house, new outfit.

Cardigan and belt: vintage/thrifted
Jeans: Target
Top/Dress: Forever 21

I'm here! I'm alive! I survived moving! We *just* got our internet hooked up today, and thank goodness I had my phone this last week because I hate not having internet access! We're mostly unpacked, and now I'm working on setting up each room. I'm really having fun with it, I feel like my inner interior decorator is coming out :)

When I packed up my closet, I found a ton of stuff that got buried at the back that I'm excited to bring into the rotation again. The only thing is, since I've been wearing so many knee-length vintage dresses lately, I'm not feelin' the length on all my newer dresses! Since when does a dress have to end at your buttcheeks? I know it's not the cutest trend, but I'm all about pairing my shorty dresses with skinny jeans. I remember doing this in middle school to a MUCH less fashionable effect. Today was the first time I wore my Gypsy wedges (flatforms? Isn't that a thing?), and I'm a little bit in love! I think they're gonna be my summer staple.

I'm off catch up on some Netflix with Chris, and I'm FINALLY going to get some crocheting done! I've had my hooks and yarn packed up and no time to work, but now I'm ready to get down the the knitty (crochet-y) gritty. BA-DUM_TSHHHH :)

Sponsor Love! - April

I know, I know, I'm a day late! We *just* finished moving in yesterday, and GOOOOODDDNESSSS it's overwhelming! There's stuff everywhere, and I'm hard at work getting everything organized. Right now I'm taking a little break to write this post, and maybe watch RuPaul's Drag Race :) So here are the ladies of April to introduce themselves!

I'm Tera from Tera Sue. I am an artist and crafter who loves pink, flowers, hearts and cutesy things, as well as horror, zombie and gore. I write about the everyday adventures of a quirky lady and post DIYs and photos of my artistic creations. I love new blog friends (they are the best kind for a socially awkward blogger) so stop by and leave a link to your blog!

Hi and thanks for popping by. I am one for etiquette, so please let me introduce myself Mrs Rachel Cavill. I am quite proud to be Mrs C. As it shows someone in this world loves me and wants to share their life with me and my journey in life. It is funny I mention my journey, as Mr C continues to tell me that I should write a book about all the things I do in my life ‘The crafty life of a modern housewife’. My life is very on the go, however when asked at a party or hair appointment “So what have you been doing, lately” the reply is “nothing much”. Lie, all lies.

Me and my lady tie.

Shirt: thrifted
Shoes: Target (last year)
Lady Tie: c/o Flappergirl

When I was in high school I went through a lot of fashion phases. My dad gave me free reign at the mall and I used that ability to go through every horrible fashion trend out there. Some of my more horrendous outfits happened in middle school, but in high school I still had my fair share of fails. Like when I dated that vegan guy and listened to a lot of Grateful Dead, and I wore a floor length patchwork dress with star patches on it... yeah. But by senior year I calmed down some and went through a preppy phase. I wore button up shirts and v-neck sweaters, and lots of corduroys. I still love the look of a button up shirt but I rarely wear them. But now that the lovely and ever-so-talented Christine of Flappergirl sent me my very own lady tie, I'm falling back on the button up bandwagon and I'm excited. I'm currently trying to decide what color I should get next :)

I've been battling the cold from hell for the last week, but I'm feelin' pretty alright today besides a lingering cough. I have plans to start packing up all our junk (we're moving! More on that later.) and then Chris and I are meeting our friend Jen for dinner. We just reunited with Jen, who we knew in high school and I thought (back then) she was my enemy... Turns out we were dumb and immature back then and now we get along fabulously! We had coffee the other day just the two of us, and we're trying to make it a weekly thing. Lord knows I could use a local gal pal!

Ok. I'm off to pack. I've been stalling under the guise of writing this blog post (meaning I write a sentence and then look at something else for ten minutes...oops!). First up, all the knick knacks and cute things I love. Wish me luck and let's hope I don't break anything!

Giveaway - $30 to Adventurer Vintage

Hello there! I've got an awesome giveaway to share with you from one of this month's sponsors Alison-Claire of Adventurer Vintage! Here she is to tell us a little bit about herself...

1. Tell us a little about yourself!
Hello! My name is Alison-Claire and I am currently living in Washington state. I've bounced around a lot in the last year due to finishing up graduate school--I am now a certified Middle & High school English teacher! :) In the past year I went from sharing an apartment with a boy, to living with my parents, to moving to Oregon with said boy, and now back to my parents again-whew! All this moving around means I've lived out of boxes a lot and haven't had a chance to set down roots and get a REAL job. When I have spare time I love going to see live music, reading, cooking, blogging, watching my "stories" (anyone else super stoked Game of Thrones and Mad Men have just returned?!), playing with friends and most importantly, shopping!
2. What got you into vintage clothing? What do you love most about it?
I have been an avid thrifter all of my life. My sister and I used to spend hours with my mom at Value Village. In high school, I was the girl wearing little boys shirts with my studded belts. I went to college in San Francisco and branched out into more unique and interesting vintage, rather than just thrifted finds. I grew up on a budget and know no other way to shop. Shopping for and finding deals is my passion. This past Fall, while student teaching, I had to quit my part time job--then I moved and wasn't able to find Substitute work right away. I didn't lose my love for shopping or finding deals, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it!). So, I decided to take my shopping addiction and love of thrifting plus my need for an income and combine them. Adventurer Vintage allows me to shop and discover amazing pieces while making a little bit of money at the same time :) And the part I love most? Finding super awesome shoes or skirts or what have you that would never fit my womanly frame but that would like great on you, the customer!
3. Where do you see yourself in a year? What about your shop, any big dreams and goals for the near future?
In a year I really hope to have my own class, preferably a Freshman English class. I've also considered going back to school AGAIN and getting my Masters in English and teaching at the Junior/Community college level. The problem with teaching as a profession is that it hardly pays the bills, but I do it because I love to read and write. Selling vintage on the side gives me some expendable income and cures my addiction to shopping ;) I've often had dreams of being a stylist or owning a brick and mortar vintage shop but in this economy I've pushed those ideas to pipe dream status.
4. What's your favorite trend right now?
I'd like to say that my least favorite trend currently are crop tops : / Unless you have a very specific body type they are not flattering and crop tops seem to be all the stores are stocking. I do love midi skirts however, and I try to stock the shop with them as well. I love sandals and woven flats too. Being that I live in Washington, which is rainy and snowy, I'm basically in love with Summer wear: flowy skirts, loose blouses, cut off shorts and flats.
5. What's one crazy thing you'd like to do in your lifetime?
So many, but at the top of my list: hot air balloon ride, swim with sharks, hang out with An Idiot Abroad, meet Jeff Mangum, publish a book of poems, aaaaaand do a NASCAR race haha :)
So here's the fun part!! Alison-Claire is giving away $30 credit to her shop!

You must be a follower of susannahbean.com to enter. Please leave a separate comment for each entry with your name and a way to contact you! Here's how to enter:

I love floral dresses & stockings, tetris, picnics, pots of teas, cafes, blogs, vegetarian meals, movie nights with my husband & illustrations. I blog about my daily adventures, my illustrations, fancy folk & delightful things I come across. Swing by & say hi!
I started blogging to document my decor inspiration and the growing stash of furniture and homegoods I was hoarding in a closet for my first place, while I was still living with my parents. Now at 28 years old, I've lived in three different locations and owned two homes. I'm finally settled down now with my fiance and we're slowly perfecting our home, room by room. I keep myself busy with a full time job and planning and blogging our June 2013 wedding, which will be full of color and DIY details. To satisfy my love of vintage and antiques, (and perhaps justify my shopping habit) I'm also starting my own business, offering vintage rentals and wedding planning.
I'm Bex, a 22 year old SAHM of one from the UK. I write a lifestyle blog, Futures, where you can expect to see fashion, beauty, food, books, reviews and life in general. I love tea, Italian food and I'm a not so secret Doctor Who and WWE geek.
My name is Amanda, and I'm the chica behind Dragonflight Dreams (both blog and shop). I freelance full-time as a graphic designer here in Austin TX, and pursue screenprinting and blogging in my off-time, if there is such a thing. :) I'm 27, in a long-term relationship, and am neither vegetarian nor religious. My interests span a pretty wide range, but include: design, photography, screenprinting, cooking, reading, playing piano, video games, movies, game nights with friends, hanging out with my boyfriend and puppy, daydreaming about dragons and flying, learning to sew, fashion (as I see it/like it), and more.
Hi, I'm a Heather. I'm an Australian artsy, crafty person with a new blog and a passion for making polymer clay jewelry. I'm a geek at heart with a love for Doctor Who, Internet culture, cats, tea, thrifting and unusual clothing. Come by my blog to say hi!
Hello, friends! My name is Lisa and I'm the lady behind goodknits. I have two little boys and when they're not keeping me busy, I like to knit, crochet, and do other random crafty things. I use my blog as a place to share my creative ideas, as well as specific patterns I've developed. I really love doilies.
