I've realized in the last few months that I have a weird and totally backwards style habit that I can't seem to shake. I wear dresses and kooky outfits all winter long, pairing things that shouldn't go together, wearing brighter colors, and generally being a little more ~out there with my outfits. But in the summer, I'd much rather stick with a tee and jeans or shorts. You'd think that I'd be all about wearing dresses in the summer because weather-wise it seems obvious. Nope. I think it has to do with the lack of layering I'm able to do in the summer. I'm much more comfortable in the winter when I can wear tights and cardigans, but summer weather makes that unbearable. I'm not the type of girl who's concerned about my shape and wanting to cover up because I'm not a size 2, but I do definitely appreciate being an adult who can keep herself unexposed (...if you catch my drift. I don't like flashin' my booty around town!). I guess it's a modesty thing? All I know is wearing shortie short dresses in the summer makes me feel nekkid :)

Anyway. Moving on. I took these pictures last Thursday. Chris was going to see Refused that night, but we spent the morning running a few errands and grabbing lunch at Boston Market. [sidenote: All the Boston Markets in our area closed up, but we found one in Crystal Lake, and Chris and I were so pumped about it! We definitely relived our childhoods for a minute :) ]. We went home and Chris headed out for the city to meet up with his friends to see Refused. I would have loved to go, but fate was not on my side with getting a ticket. Chris said it was an awesome show, but there was no air conditioning, so I would have just been angry the whole time. I agree, I get angry if I'm too hot and that just sounded unpleasant. I finally hung some stuff up on the walls that evening, but a whole box of prints and other things seems to be missing. I think it's in the crawl space, but there's no way I'm going down there to check :)

Also, the winner of the Scarlett Key giveaway has been picked! Congratulations Adrienne! I'll be emailing you shortly :)

  1. HAHA, I read "booty" as "booby" (like 4 times) and thought "She only has one? I never noticed...wait. Wait a goddamn second. I'm an idiot."

    Sigh.

  3. I like your outfit :) It's casual but nice, and the headband really adds to it!

I agree. I am the worst person to be around if it's hot out. I HATE the heat! I would much rather be cold and be able to wrap myself in blankets and sweaters.

  4. I totally agree with you on that! In the summer, it's so hard to get comfortable (especially if your in an area where it's always humid) so I try to throw in a few dresses, but I usually end up rocking an outfit similar to yours in the photos. Except my hair never looks that cute ;]

  11. Yea, thanks for hosting such a cool giveaway!
Your everyday look is awesome :)

I break out the dresses in the Summer, but I always feel exposed. Why are dresses so short nowadays? It reminds me of my youth in the 90s, where you were lucky if a dress covered your bottom.

  13. I totally get what you mean about modesty. Layer up all the cute stuff in the winter when you can cover your bum in dark tights and leggings, then rock the play clothes all summer!
Why wear clothes that hold you back from having a good fun?

  14. I think you're gorgeous and your curves are perfect in every way! Also, i know what you mean about wanting to wear jeans and tees in the summer. I, on the other hand, use to wear nothing but jeans and tees, and now I mostly wear skirts and dresses! -Jessica L
