Autumn Gardens.

// Jacket: Thrifted // Dress and Necklace (sold out): c/o Kintage // Tights: We Love Colors // Boots: Target // Lipstick (Moscow): c/o Radiant Cosmetics //

This dress is easily my favorite floral print of all time. I can't get over how perfect the colors are! The fit is great too, it has elbow length sleeves that I had to hide because it was freeeeeezing! And windy, too, hence the crazy hair. But I couldn't pass up taking some photos in this outfit, it all just came together so nicely, even my lipstick matched! I'm in love with this lipstick, too, I've tried other mattes that end up drying out my lips really quickly and getting gross, but this one from Radiant stays creamy!

Today I'm hustling to finish a few orders, and enjoying my alone time before the rest of the week gets crazy! Babysitting my nephew tomorrow, college friends are in town for hang outs on Thursday, and then a holiday party on Friday! But today is for Law & Order: SVU and leftover Chinese food on the couch :)

PS: I'm having a little flash sale in my shop until midnight tomorrow! Use the coupon code FIFTEEN15 to get 15% off your total order!! Wahoo!!!

Complementary.

// Dress: c/o LuLu*s // Tights: Charlotte Russe (old) // Belt: Snagged from another dress // Boots: Vintage //

I'm crazy about this dress I got from LuLu*s, it's such a good color and the metal collar tabs are super rad in my book. I can't say I own a single other purple dress, but I think I like it! I had to wear my Simpsons tights with it, my years of art classes kicked in and I couldn't avoid dressing up like a color wheel :) This dress looks good over jeans too, which I have to admit I switched over to after taking these pictures. It's been warm here, but not quite warm enough for a sheer dress and tights, haha.
I feel like everyone else I know has kicked full swing into holiday mode, but I'm lagging behind. Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's the fact that I'm not doing much in the way of presents this year (unemployment doesn't bode well for gift-giving), but I barely feel like Christmas is right around the corner. I guess I have to get into the holiday mindset, though, because my sisters and mom and I are doing a big Christmas cookie baking day next week. We're supposed to bring two batches of our own, and then when we're together we'll make a few more dozen to swap! I'm getting excited, I picked out some fancy looking recipes from Pinterest that I can't wait to try! What's your favorite holiday cookie?
Today I'm spending some time with my sister and nephew, they were out of town for a little while and I need to catch up on baby snuggles :) I hope your day is fabulous! xo

Elbow patches and pencil skirts.

// Sweater: TJ Maxx // Skirt: Thrifted // Belt: Snagged from another dress // Tights and Boots: Target //

First off, I need to say thank you to everyone who took part in my sale this past weekend. This season is the best I've had yet, which I said last year, and the year before that too. I'm so unbelievably thankful that you guys are into what I make, and that, at a time when I'm between real-life jobs, I can pay my bills with the fruits of my hobby. That blows my mind, and I couldn't be more grateful! So, thank you again!

So let's talk about this outfit. Last Saturday I went up to Wisconsin to hang out with my nieces. My 16 year old niece was in town from California, and the girls wanted to take care of some holiday shopping. There's nothing like shopping with a 16 year old California-girl to make you feel like your closet needs an update in a major way! Right now, she's all about comfy oversized sweaters, and her predilection for them rubbed off on me. Granted, this sweater is far from oversized, but I can't tell you the last time I wore a sweater (other than cardigans, because I wear those pretty consistently!). I don't know why, I think it's because of a string of poor sweater choices in high school, but I kinda swore them off. But now they're all I can think about, I want a million sweaters of all shapes and colors! Target has a pretty rad selection right now, if you're looking :) So anyway, I got this one from TJ Maxx, a place I need to shop more, and have worn it way too many times because, hello, elbow patches. And the pencil skirt. I really love pencil skirts, but they are not especially flattering on my frame. But I don't totally mind. I still wear them :)

Chris has the next couple days off, and I'm determined to get our Christmas tree up while he's home! I have no idea where we're going to put it, though, our house is teeny tiny compared to where we were living last winter. We're also rewatching Lost right now, and we've gotten to the point in season 6 where I just can't keep track of everything that's happening. I think we may need to backtrack a little!

Hope you're having a nice day :)

Bun and Buttonup.

// Jacket: H&M // Shirt and Jeans: Target // Boots: Thrifted // Sunglasses: Five Below //

I haven't done an outfit post in forever, it seems, mostly because I've been hard at work being a couch bum and crocheting all day. I definitely feel like my style choices have shifted to reflect comfort more than they ever have before. I've been wearing a lot of t-shirts and jeans, and I'm trying to get my hands on all the plaid button ups and flannels I can. It's been a nice change of pace, but I'm really missing my dresses!

I thought I'd mention this too- I've been selling some of my clothes on Instagram, and now you can view IG profiles on the web! So here's the link to that if you're interested. Shipping is included for the US, $5 extra for Canada/International.

Hope your day is going well! Rest up, fellow Americans who celebrate Thanksgiving, we've got a lot of eating to do tomorrow!!

Short shorts.

// Tights: Target // Shorts: Random cutoffs // Sweater: PacSun (old) // Shoes: Vans // Scarf: Vintage // Lipstick: Covergirl Berry Souffle //

I've seen a million cute girls wear jean cutoffs over tights but I've never tried it out myself. I got these tights on sale at Target the other day and on the shelf they look like the cutest mauve/berry color, but on they look a little more like a giant bruise. I hope it's just because I'm wearing dark colors with them because I still really like the shade!

I've been thinking about style lately, or more specifically, how I define my style. But the thing is, I don't really feel like I have a style. I just wear what I like. I put something on, and if I feel good in it, I wear it. So sometimes I wear one of Chris's skate tees and baggy jeans, and sometimes I wear a 50s wiggle dress and heels. I don't feel like I'm a stylish person, I just like what I like! But I kinda like it that way, I don't feel much pressure to keep up with trends or to look on point every day, and I don't really mind if other people think I look goofy. I definitely get some stares, but 99% of the time I don't even think twice about it.

Also, how rad are my nails right now? After almost four years of working somewhere that didn't allow me to paint them, I'm going a little crazy with the fun manicures. I really want to find an old spice rack that I can gussy up to store all my nail polishes! Just another thing I've added to my to-do list :)

Garden Party

// Dress and Belt: Thrifted // Cardigan and Boots: Target // Ring: Vintage (stolen from my momma //

I feel like a hypocrite here because I was just complaining about eBay sellers who hack off the bottoms of vintage dresses, and here I am in a dress I chopped apart. I didn't even hem it before I took these photos! But this dress is a thousand times better short than it was as an ankle length one. I guess my thing with the eBay sellers is that they take away the choice of altering a vintage dress, plus they cut it to fit themselves or their model, rather than leaving the buyer the option to change the length according to their height and proportions. I'm all for altering dresses if need be! I have a pile waiting for their turn at the sewing machine. They've been sitting there for a while, though, but it's on my to-do list!

I wore this outfit out to dinner with Chris's family at Texas de Brazil. We were celebrating Chris's and his dad's birthday, as well as his dad and stepmom's anniversary. I hadn't been to Texas de Brazil before but I heard good things! The salad bar was amazing, but the best part was the guys who walk around with huge skewers of meat (sorry veggie friends!!). You may not know, but in all my 26 years I had never eaten beef, no hamburgers or steak or anything of the sort! But, Chris was raving about how amazing the steak was at this place, and he said if I was ever going to try red meat that this was the place to do it. So, I did! I tried filet mignon, and I have to admit, it was really good! I feel like I've ruined my chances of enjoying it again, if I tried top of the line steak for my first taste, will I ever be able to eat ~regular steak??

It's been raining here pretty much daily, so we've been sticking close to home for the most part. I got a bunch of orders shipped out, and I've been working on some cute new things to list soon too! I'm also itching to start a quilt but I'm also kinda terrified so I just obsess over it without actually putting any work into it. Any tips for a quilting newb??

Daisy doofus.

// Dress: Forever 21 // Cardigan, Tights, and Shoes: Target // Watch: Vernier (from Groupon) //

For the last few months I've been taking my outfit photos with a tripod and remote, but Chris was around today and I asked him to take pictures for me. I seriously couldn't keep a straight face! He was saying the most ridiculous stuff, and there were many more awkward mid-laugh photos that I'm comfortable admitting. I picked this dress up at Forever21 in Indianapolis when I was there with Kaelah, and it might qualify as my favorite thing to wear. I feel a little Angela Chase-y in it. The only issue I have with this dress (and shirtdresses in general) is the dang sleeves! They're always way too tight for my chubster arms when they're buttoned, and then they bunch up under a sweater. It causes me way more grief than it should, but it's a big irritant for me. Also, I got a watch because A) it's "rose gold", B) it makes me feel like a grown up, and C) it was $20 on Groupon. Good enough for me!

Right now we're cuddled up on the couch watching old episodes of The Office and I'm dreaming up new designs for the shop. I'm really loving the extra time I have to focus on my business and craft, but I know it won't last forever. Gotta take advantage while I can! Anything you'd like to see make an appearance in my store??

I hope your day has been great! I'm off to frost the sugar cookies I made earlier (seriously, this extra time is awesome!). xo

Pink Stripes.

// Dress: Vintage from eBay // Shoes: c/o BAIT //

I took these photos last week before Chris and I drove down to Tennessee for Kaelah and Mike's wedding. I bought this dress off eBay quite a while ago and it finally showed up in the mail. I was a little bummed when I saw it, though, because rather than being this length originally, it looks like the seller just hacked off the hem to shorten it. I hate that trend, that all vintage dresses need to be reconstructed into micro-minis or hi-low skirts to be ~fashionable. The sellers shouldn't mess with them! I see so many cute dresses that are rendered unwearable because the seller chopped off inches of fabric so that it'd look good on their model in the photos. Ugh, I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture :)

So Kaelah and Mike's wedding was a complete and total blast! It turned out beautifully, even though the weather didn't really cooperate. I brought my camera and took exactly zero photos, so I'll have to wait to see pictures on Kaelah's blog just like you guys! I'm sure they'll be amazing!

Chris and I drove back Sunday, and on Monday I had my last day at work. Yep, I quit my job! It wasn't exactly planned, but the situation there had gotten a little too tense for anyone's good. So I made the decision sort of spur of the moment, but I'm glad I did! I'm in the process of trying to find a new job, so wish me luck!

Today I'm enjoying my first day of "freedom" with lots of cheesy movies and TV on Netflix, some crocheting, a little grocery shopping, and I plan to do some reorganizing and redecorating later on . I hope you're having a great day!!

Red, white, and mint.

// Skirt: thrifted // Top: Forever 21 // Belt: H&M // Shoes: Target // Rings: Forever 21 and Pitaya //

These pictures are from a few days ago. I haven't done too much this past week besides work, run errands, or work on Renegade stuff, so if I make it into jeans and a t-shirt I call the day a success. I did take some time out today to dye my hair, and once Chris got home we went out to get my nephew Emerson's first birthday present! He turns one on Tuesday, but his party is tomorrow. I'm super excited for it, but I'm having a hard time believing he's one already!

Renegade is officially in one week, and I'm feeling pretty good about it! Chris made my main display the other day, and other than the fact that we bought less-than-stellar wood that's a little crooked, they're absolutely perfect! I wanted to whip up a few more things, but I think I'm at a point where I'd be cool if I didn't finish anything else. I do have lots of ~finishing kind of stuff to do, like sewing, labeling, tagging, and finishing my sign. I'm getting excited though! My nerves are less "holy crap I'm gonna puke" now. Are any of you local friends planning on stopping by the show?

Garden Party.

Kaelah and I spent a little bit of time hitting the thrift shops when we were in Indianapolis. We stopped in one called Value Thrift (I think...) and poked around a little. I have been having the WORST luck with finding cute vintage dresses lately, so I didn't have much hope, but this little number jumped out at me. I picked it out and showed it to Kaelah, who loved it off the bat, but I was a little sketchy about it. The store we were at didn't have a fitting room, and I was nervous it wasn't going to fit. I have trouble with sleeves sometimes, my upper arms are a little bulky and unstretchy fabric can be troublesome. But the dress was only a couple dollars so I bought it anyway and figured I could sell it if it didn't fit. I came home from our trip and washed it with everything else in my suitcase, and promptly forgot about it. I saw it again today and tried it on, and good lord is it ever perfect! The perfect length, the perfect sleeves, pockets, the best floral pattern... I'm definitely swooning over this one!

// Dress and Belt: Thrifted // Shoes: Gypsies c/o Blowfish //
Chris and I had a late dinner together at our favorite restaurant Smashburger, and then picked up The Hunger Games (and of course I got the special bonus pack with a mockingjay pendant!!). I haven't been this excited about buying a DVD, like, ever. We watched it while I crocheted a little before bed, and it was just as awesome as it was in the theater. I seriously love the movie, and it's making me want to read all the books again. Maybe after Renegade I'll finally find some time :)

Hope you're having a wonderful day!

On the road.

Everything: Target

Today I'm headed out on a little midweek adventure to Indianapolis, the lovely Kaelah and I are spending a few days there as a little "girl's trip"! I'm so excited to be able to spend some one on one time with her, especially with all the exciting events coming up that we can chat about! We have some fun stuff planned while we're there, but we'd love to hear any suggestions you have if you're familiar with the area!

Last night Chris and I went to dinner as a sort of ~goodbye date night. This new(er) bar and grill in town has $5 nights on Sundays and Wednesdays, every menu item is $5 (which is pretty damn fantastic!). Chris got ribs and I got coconut shrimp... I'm reminiscing too much about the food, ha! Before we got our meals we were chatting about me leaving on this little trip, and I- out of the blue, mind you- started crying because we haven't spend more than a night apart in the last three or four years. We tried to remember the last time we went on vacation without the other, and he thinks it was a spring break pretty early on in our relationship. I don't remember it though! Anyway, it was silly but I'm really gonna miss him these next few days! I know Kaelah and I are gonna have a blast, though :)

I'll be back soon with some snippets of our trip. I hope you're having a wonderful day!!

New glasses!

Glasses: Coastal.com //  Shirt & Scarf: Thrifted // Pants: Kohl's // Shoes: Gypsies c/o Blowfish

I ordered new glasses a few days ago because I was fed up with the goofy ones I have. I have a normal pair of rectangular brown ones from when I got my eye exam, but they're men's glasses and are too big for my face. I also have two sort of wacky pairs from Coastal, but I was so fed up with goofy glasses I just had to get a more normal pair. And these aren't exactly normal, but they're a light brown and they're smaller than any of my other pairs. So! I'm happy. I had come home from work and they were waiting for me, so I threw on a wrinkled shirt and my fave cords and snapped a few photos. Chris was outside with me when I was taking these, and we tried to do a few jumping shots, but they were a miserable failure! Anyone have any tips??

Chris picked up a summer cold at work and passed it on to me (isn't that nice??), so I've been feeling like poop for the last couple of days. Yesterday was my day off and I was supposed to go into the city to visit my sister, but I kept falling asleep, and I didn't want to pass my bug on to my sister and nephew, so I opted to stay home. Good thing I did because I took like five naps, and stayed in my pajamas for the entire day. Chris brought me dinner and I felt a little better, so hopefully it's on its way out. I really hope so, because on Monday I'm driving out to Indianapolis for a little girl's trip with Kaelah for the better part of the week! I'm so excited to take a little break and hang out with her, and it's extra awesome because we've never had strictly girl time! All our visits have included the boys, I think we had maybe half a day one time where we went shopping by ourselves. But this is going to be awesome, we have so much to talk about, what with her wedding coming up and my Renegade plans... I can't wait!!
